Hey Everypony, Bright Idea here. Seeing as I've been putting out some really satisfying hand-drawn works lately, I thought it would be nice to promote other artists who have more or less inspired me to put drawing into practice again, after thinking for the longest time that I had "lost the knack" and was only good at digital art (with it's easy undos, color blending, blemish removing, layer-stacking, and unlimited filter possibilities). In no particular order, here are some awesome traditional artists you should check out!
Pristine is both a talented traditional and digital artist, but her Prismacolor pieces of different bronies in her own unique style is to LIVE for. I love how she draws eyes, so soft and caring, and the colors che uses, as well as her texturing technique, makes her one of my bestest art-senpais. Keep up the great work!
This guy is loads of fun! Brogar/Gus does all hand-drawn all the time, and his style is so awesome. After drawing ponies for so long, he's developed a unique style that looks fairly show accurate, but has his own flavor to it at the same time. His drawings usually have a great sense of humor, and can go meta at times, like one where he tackled what happens when the artist gives up on a drawing halfway. He's taking art courses in college, so he doesn't post as often as he used to, but he's got an extensive gallery that you can look back on and enjoy anytime.
This is the girl that kinda prompted my starting to draw with colored pencils in the first place. We did an art-trade, where we each drew both our characters together, Blueray and Bright Idea, and both turned out quite good, in my opinion.
Ever since then, I've enjoyed drawing/coloring so much I've been posting traditional ever since. Please check out Lify's gallery and consider following her. She's relatively new to DA and already has so much artistic potential! Her ponies are adorable and a style all their own!
Now this dude...he's in a league unto himself. His attention to detail and realistic leanings makes his drawings (it feels weird calling them that because they're so darn good) stand out in my memory and take hold of my imagination. I can't imagine how long it takes him to make his art from start to finish, and his style is so solid and unique that every time he puts out a new picture, I'm always glad I followed him. Keep up the fantastic work, Quill!
Haven't seen Flower Bolt post stuff in awhile, but she's another big inspiration for me to start drawing again. I got introduced to her work by , and I followed her pretty soon after. Her style is very sweet and innocent, and really visually pleasing in my eyes. Hope you're doing well, Flower!
This girl is absolutely incredible! I've known her only a short length of time, but her style is so expressive, so full of emotion and energy that she blows me away each time she makes a new sketch. I'm so impressed with her Undertale AU concept, and her style of drawing ponies. PLEASE CHECK HER OUT NOW! YOU WON'T REGRET IT I PROMISE!
Do you want to talk about awesome traditional art? Do you want to talk about adorable animals and amazing backgrounds and near-photorealistic style? Well friends, here is a guy to talk about! His specialty is elephants, but he draws all manner of African mammals, as well as ponies! His way of drawing reminds me of a mix between Disney and MLP style. Also he's got an entire menagerie of characters running around in his brain that occasionally make it into his drawings. Makes for some cute, funny stories.
That's all for now, Everypony! Until next time, check out these inspiring artists, maybe follow them yourself, and as always, keep an eye out for more...

2023: Looking Back
Hello fellow pun-lovers, fine friends and loyal fans (you'd have to be if you're reading this π), Bright Idea here with my annual summary of the past year! Much like last year's end-of-year recap, the focus is less content-related (though there's still a dedicated section for that) and more general, personal recap. Having a full time job (even one that's way less stressful than working retail) means less time for me to create content, and more time on work that gets me paid regularly, and spending quality time with loved ones when I'm not working. Even if the only time I ever post on DeviantArt anymore is once a year, I still choose to post here because it's where I got my start as an artist and online persona, and I love giving myself something to look back on (it's been a tradition I've kept up every year since 2016, so why stop now?). Check out all past year summaries here: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 Without further ado, here's how my 2023 went: Highlights of
My 2022
Hello friends and fellow pun-lovers, Bright Idea here! Long time no see? π
For this 2022 end-of-year recap, I'm focusing less on my Bright Idea-related content (though that does have its own section) and more on my personal growth, because...well, I really didn't make much time to be a content-creator this year due to my full time job at Home Depot (more on that below). I have no expectations of anybody else reading this, since I barely had anything to do with DeviantArt (with all the weird changes, etc...) and I only posted 2 videos to my channel this year...Still, I feel like I owe it to myself to have something to look back on, as I do with my other recap posts. Plus it's at least something for my extremely supportive friends and followers here and elsewhere to know what I've been up to. π This journal format is the best way I know to recall the connections, accomplishments, and notable events I've experienced in 2022, reflect on what's to come, and figure out what I'd like to
My 2021: A Summary
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! Hello fellow punlovers, Bright Idea here! As is tradition, it's time for my yearly recap of accomplishments, connections, and events that happened last year. Much like 2020, I wasn't very active on DeviantArt in 2021, nor my other social medias to some extent, instead putting more focus on my IRL career and relationships. Still, I owe it to my loyal followers here and elsewhere to keep y'all updated on what I've been up to. This journal post is the best way I know to fully express the ups and downs I've experienced in 2021 and reflect on the year we've had and what's to come, so let's get right into it! HIGHLIGHTS of 2021 Moved homes for the second AND third time! Last year I moved in with my boyfriend CKingIII80, and this year I got to move in with my other boyfriend RABY5775! I lived with him, his cat, and his dad (who turns out to be an even bigger punster than his son) up north in Pennsylvania, and it was a wonderful experience. Then the week
Bye 2020, Hello 2021!
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! Hello fellow punlovers, Bright Idea here (long time no write). ^^; That's right, time for my yearly recap of accomplishments, connections, and goals I made throughout the year, and what a doozy this one was. This time will be a bit different from previous years, as I haven't been nearly as active on DeviantArt in 2020 as I have in past years (due to the major changes the site underwent October 2019). Instead I've been regularly promoting my content, updates, and random puns on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and socializing with friends via Discord, but I still owe it to my loyal followers here on DA to update you on what I've been up to. This journal post is the easiest way I know to fully express the ups and downs I've experienced in 2020 and reflect on the year we've had and what's to come. HIGHLIGHTS of 2020 Moved out for the first time, lived in a house with 3 dogs, cooked meals for myself, and experienced being with one of my
