30 Tips for 30 Years Old

1. Growing up doesn't happen overnight, or even in a week, month, or year. It happens when you take care of yourself and others. 2. The difference between what you need and what you want is the difference between what feels good in the short term and what will feel good in the long term. 3. Have snacks in the pantry/fridge; healthy ones, but even salty/sugary ones. Everything in moderation, including moderation! 4. Make time for hobbies and friends; they make life all the more meaningful and bearable. 5. Make sure the people that matter to you know how you feel about them. 6. As much as you disagree with someone, there's always something you share in common with them, even if it's just your humanity. 7. Life's too short to take little things so seriously; laugh at yourself often. 8. If a load's too heavy to lift alone, seek help and you will find it. 9. If someone's angry, they're usually very scared, very sad, or both. 10. The stories we tell ourselves are powerful things, be careful and conscious of which ones to tell. 11. No matter how much you think you know, you're closer to knowing nothing than knowing everything. 12. Keep your dishes clean, don't let the sink fill up or leave it until you need to make something. 13. Business before pleasure, but also play as hard as you work. You deserve to be rewarded for your efforts. 14. Put an overwhelming task into perspective; brick by brick, bit by bit, a finite task will get done with enough determination and patience. 15. Experiment and try new things to keep life interesting; combine 2 or more things you haven't tried mixing, maybe it'll turn into a remix! 16. Make sure not to shop hungry. Go after you've already eaten so you can stay on task. 17. To avoid getting messy fingers when eating single serving snack bags, push snack up from the bottom and eat like a burrito. 18. Don't let perfect get in the way of good enough, you're only human. 19. Thinking about one's audience is an essential part of the creative process, don't skip it or skimp on it. 20. Don't waste time arguing with folks on the internet; seek to understand others rather than changing their minds. 21. If you feel down, take a walk, play a game, talk to a friend, notice the details in the present moment. Breathe and take your time. 22. Be conscious of what you're learning from the media you consume, fiction and non-fiction, news and stories. 23. Out of sight, out of mind; make stuff you intend to remember as visible as possible. 24. Always know where your towel is, and don't panic. 25. The microwave is a marvelously convenient invention, but nothing quite compares to a fresh stove/oven cooked meal. 26. Give compliments and praise often and in public; they cost nothing and are often priceless to those who recieve them. 27. Instead of asking "why is this happening to me?" consider "how is this happening for me?" 28. Your feelings are real and valid, but your thoughts and actions are within your control; ultimately, you're responsible for your own behaviour. 29. Play new music, it will expand your mind and worldview tremendously! 30. The learning never really stops. ❤
